About 20 years ago, when I was presenting my talk-back radio program on Melbourne’s talk-radio 3 AW, a listener sent me a book that she thought I’d enjoy. It was called Living, Loving, and Learning by Dr Leo Buscaglia and edited by Steven Short.
Well not only did I love the book, but it, along with Dr Buscaglia’s other books, have influenced my life ever since.
Dr Buscaglia devoted the last 28 odd years of his life to teaching the world about “LOVE”. And after reading and re-reading Dr Buscaglia’s books, I knew that one day – some how – I too wanted to teach the world about love.
And so it was this day, April 22nd, that I was honoured to have as my very special guest Steve Short, who worked and travelled with Dr Buscaglia for nearly 20 years and who was the editor of Dr Buscaglia’s book that began this journey of mine. Seeing as Dr Buscaglia could not be with us in person, there was no better person to share “Leo stories” than Steven.
This was the 5th of 5 shows leading up to my “Special Announcement” that I’d been talking about. And so, as you know if you were listening, I spent some time on the show sharing some news about my greatest passion and forthcoming project – the ‘special announcement’. It is The Learning Loving and Laughing Project, an idea that had been smoldering away for the last 20 years, and this special show with Steven Short remembering the late Dr Leo Buscaglia was the perfect time to pre-launch the project for Healthy Life listeners.
As you can easily see, the name Learning, Loving, & Laughing is an adaptation of the first of Dr Buscaglia’s books that I read – Living, Loving, & Learning.
