Hello
I saw Avatar a few days ago. And yes, it’s everything everyone says it is and probably more.
The perfect film for our 2012 Affect changes.
VISUALS
It will have to win the academy awards for cinematography, animation, set design and all of those other visual things. All of which are beyond mere words.
in the opening scenes the two things that really carried me away were the magnificent waterfalls and the big home tree. Oh what an incredible tree.
Then later, the Tree of the Soul was exquisite.
For me, as with most other people, I could go on and on talking about the visual experience of it all. But I’ll leave it for others to add their feelings and thoughts.
STORY LINE
On the surface, the film was basically just a glorified Cowboys and Indians film, with the Indians being the goodies.
And so the superficial story line itself was nothing to write home about.
STORY LINE – PLUS
However, when the storyline is combined with the visuals, and the layers, upon layers, of spiritual and metaphoric messages – that’s when the film becomes something extremely rare indeed. And a film that’s very important for this time on our planet.
- An obvious message is what we humans are doing to our Planet. As the Na’vi said towards the end “The Sky people (Earth Humans) have killed their mother”.
- We are confronted with the need for greed by so many here on earth – greed at any cost
- We’re reminded of how so many of us here on Earth, are unable to begin to comprehend the perspective of others.
In the movie the comment is made by the Earth people that they have offered the Na’vi money, education, medicine in return for their enormous home tree, and yet “the savages” aren’t interested. So the Earth people just TAKE IT!
The Earth people want to get rights to the tree so that they can mine a precious commodity in the ground under the tree.
A major key to love and consciousness raising and living at this time on our planet is the ability to feel empathy. Yet empathy was so far beyond any emotion, or even intellectual understanding, that these Earth people had.
And the Earth people are US – people just like you and me.
All too often we “think” we are acting empathetically. Or we “think” we can look at something from another’s perspective. But our own ego driven desires are still at the front of everything – even though we don’t always realise it.
On the more beautiful side …
Through the Na’vi people we see this wonderful “connection” between all of nature – human and non-human, animate and inanimate - as it should be.
On all occasions, this is a Heart-to-Heart connection with the essence of each entity. This connection is often accompanied by the words “I see you”; meaning that they ”see” spiritually, and connect, heart-t0-heart, with the true essence of the entity.
In the movie it was described this way – to say “I See You” means that the flow of energy and the spirits of the animal is now flowing through you too. So you are connected as one.
And to emphasise this beautiful spiritual CONNECTION, the Na’vi physically connect their long hair plait with whatever they want the special one-ness with at that time – the birds, the animals, the tree and so on.
Even though they continue to make this physical hair to entity connection, after the first connection they are fully aware of the essence of nature, on that heart-to-heart level.
My Ah-Ah
Most people that I’ve spoken to who’ve seen Avatar have has a significant spiritual Ah-Ha. And for everyone it seems to be different depending on their life and life’s journey.
Avatar gave me a second reminder of the path I must ultimately follow. What a great gift!
For the past 40 or 50 years or more my greatest love and passion has been what is often referred to as Eco-spirituality. Although it wasn’t until I began my university studies in Environmental Philosophy in the early 1990s that I became familiar with the term Eco-Spirituality or Ecosophy. Nevertheless, it is this area of Environmental Philosophy that makes my heart sing more than anything else.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with living a sustainable life to stop climate change. As I’ll write in another post, I no longer believe that Climate Change has been caused my human-made CO2.
It is all about living a “sustainable” life because all of nature is one – human and non-human – and so morally and spiritually we must treat nature as a rational loving parent would treat their children and their family.
Eco-spirituality can also be thought of as our Human-Nature Connection, and our Relationship with Nature.
And Avatar gave me yet another reminder that this must ultimately be the path that I follow. However, the Avatar reminder was stronger than any reminder that I’ve ever had before.
As I continue to Explore the stories relating to 2012, Avatar is a perfect movie to remind us that the time has come to create Pandora here on Earth. And it is something that we can, and must do.

Meanwhile, I’d love to hear of any AH-HA’s that you had after watching Avatar.

Thank you, Kashonia, for writing this wonderful post.
It sums up so well how I felt after seeing Avatar last week.
It’s time for everyone to wake up and see how we’re really treating our planet and each other. Only when we can reconnect with the oneness of everything do we have a hope of raising our consciousness.
But I believe we can do it.
So thank you to those who had the vision to create this film.
And here’s praying that the millions who have seen it make their personal shift, in just the way they need to right now.
Namaste,
Clare
Hello Clare,
Thank you for your thoughts.
And what an interesting piece of research that could be. To contact the millions who have seen the film and see if they intend to make any changes in their lives as a result.
As I mentioned, it certainly confirmed for me that I must follow my eco-spirituality path as soon as I can.
And as you’ve highlighted, just imagine what our world would be like if the millions who’ve seen the film even made the slightest spiritual change in their lives.
We really would be moving to Pandora on here on Earth.
